Description:
Cisco VPN 3000 series concentrators are vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by a vulnerability regarding VPN client authentication. If a remote attacker using a VPN client attempts to log into the affected concentrator with an overly long username, the attacker could cause the concentrator to reload.
Platforms Affected:
- Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 2.x.x
- Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 3.0.x
- Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 3.1.x
- Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator 3.6(Rel)
- Cisco, VPN 3000 Concentrator prior to 3.5.5
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest software version for your device (3.6.1 or later) or (3.5.5 or later), as listed in Cisco Security Advisory: Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator Multiple Vulnerabilities. See References.
