K Desktop Environment (KDE) Konqueror secure cookie session hijacking
| kde-konqueror-cookie-hijacking (10083) |
Description:
Konqueror could transmit unencrypted cookies when a user is communicating with a secure site, caused by the failure to detect the "secure" flag in HTTP cookies. A remote attacker using a network sniffing tool could use this vulnerability to obtain a user's secure cookies, which could then be used to hijack a secure Web session or gain unauthorized access to accounts that use cookie-based authentication.
Consequences:
Bypass Security
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of KDE (3.0.3 or later), available from the K Desktop Environment (KDE) Web site. See References.
For Red Hat Linux:
Upgrade to the latest kde package, as listed below. Refer to Red Hat Security Advisory RHSA-002:220-40 for more information. See References.
Red Hat Linux 7.2: 2.2.2-3 or later
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
