NetHack -s command buffer overflow

Description:
NetHack is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. The NetHack package is installed setuid games. By passing an overly long argument to NetHack using the -s command line option, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with "setuid games" privileges.

Apply the topten.c.patch, available from the FreeBSD.org Web site. See References.
For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of neckhack (3.4.0-r6 or later), as listed in Gentoo Linux Security Announcement 200302-08. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux:
Upgrade to the latest nethack package, as listed below. Refer to DSA-316-1 for more information. See References.
Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 (potato): 3.3.0-7potato1 or later
Debian DNU/Linux 3.0 (woody): 3.4.0-3.0woody3 or later
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
