MySQL datadir/my.cnf modification could allow root privileges
| mysql-datadir-root-privileges (11510) |
Description:
MySQL could allow a remote attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system. If a remote attacker modifies the datadir/my.cnf file to specify "user=root" as the [mysqld] option, the MySQL daemon would be run under root privileges the next time the service is started. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain root privileges on the system.
