Description:

Firebird is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by insufficient bounds checking by the gds_inet_server, gds_drop, and gds_lock_mgr binaries. By passing an overly long INTERBASE environment variable to Firebird, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges, possibly root.
