UpClient -p command line buffer overflow
| upclient-command-line-bo (12131) |
Description:
UpClient is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. By default, the /usr/ports/misc/upclient file is installed with setgid 'kmem' group privileges. A local attacker can supply the -p command with a specially-crafted argument value to cause a buffer overflow and execute code on the system with 'kmem' group privileges.
Consequences:
Gain Privileges
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of UpClient (5.0b8 or later), available from the UpClient Web site. See References.
