MSN Messenger malformed image buffer overflow

Description:
MSN (Microsoft Network) Messenger is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by a buffer overflow in the msnmsgr.exe. By sending a malformed image, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and cause the victim's MSN Messenger client to crash.

Remedy:
Reportedly, this vulnerability is fixed in the latest version of MSN Messenger (6.0.0602 or later), as listed in BugTraq Mailing List posting dated Sat Jul 19 2003 - 06:42:26 CDT. See References.
