VMware GSX Server and VMware Workstation environment variable code execution

Description:
Multiple VMware products could allow a remote attacker to execute code. VMware GSX Server could allow a remote attacker to execute commands on the system with root privileges, caused by a vulnerability in the environmental variables. A remote attacker can change the environment variables to cause malicious code to run on the system with root privileges, once a virtual machine is started.

Remedy:
For VMware GSX Server (for Linux systems):
Apply the 2.5.1 patch 1 for this vulnerability, from the Vmware Web site. See References.
For VMware Workstation 4.0 (for Linux systems):
Upgrade to the latest version of VMware Workstation (4.0.1 or later), available from the Vmware Web site. See References.
