Gordano Messaging Suite sending "dot dot" to port 80 causes denial of service
| gordano-dotdot-dos (13148) |
Description:
Gordano Messaging Suite (GMS) is vulnerable to a denial of service. WWW.exe is used to listen to ports to provide GMS services. A remote attacker could send a malformed GET request containing "dot dot" characters (/../..) to port 80 to cause WWW.exe and all the services provided by WWW.exe to crash. GMS must be restarted to regain normal functionality. If GMS is running on a Linux operating system, sending multiple malformed GET requests will cause the service to hang, which can deny services to legitimate users.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
Remedy:
Apply the appropriate patch for your system, as listed in the BugTraq Mailing List posting dated Wed Sep 10 2003 - 02:06:13 CDT. See References.
