Description:
The patch specified in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-043 is not installed, making the system vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the Messenger service. Improper bounds checking in the Messenger service is addressed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-043. "Net send" messages that are sent through the Alerter service are transmitted by the Messenger Service. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted message to overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with Local System privileges or cause the service to fail.
