Description:

Microsoft Windows is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the Messenger Service, caused by improper bounds checking. "Net send" messages that are sent through the Alerter service are transmitted by the Messenger Service. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted message to overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with Local System privileges or cause the service to fail.

Block or restrict the following in the ISS Protection Platform as appropriate to the environment:
Port 135/tcp, 135/udp, 137/udp, 138/udp, 139/tcp, 445/tcp, 445/udp
