Microsoft Windows Authenticode could allow an attacker to execute code

win-authenticode-code-execution (13422) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

Microsoft Windows could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a vulnerability with the Authenticode feature, which identifies the publisher of an ActiveX control. Under specific low memory conditions, Authenticode fails to properly prompt the user for authorization when installing a Microsoft ActiveX control. A remote attacker could cause an unauthorized ActiveX control to be downloaded and installed on the victim's system, without displaying the dialogue that requires the user to click "Yes" in order to install the ActiveX control on the system. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious Web page and hosting it on a Web site or by sending it to a victim as an HTML email.
