Description:

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. By creating a malicious aim:getfile URL containing a long screenname, a remote attacker can overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system, once the URL is clicked and the victim downloads the malicious file.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of AIM (5.5.3415 Beta or later), available from the AOL Instant Messenger Web site. See References.
