XBoard creates insecure temporary files

Description:
XBoard creates a temporary file in /tmp with an easily predictable file name, which could allow a local attacker to launch a symlink attack. A local attacker could create a symbolic link for a file in /tmp to an arbitrary file on the system, which would allow the attacker to create or overwrite files with privileges of another user.

Upgrade to the latest version of XBoard (4.2.7 or later), available from the Tim Mann Web site. See References.
