Description:
Multiple vendor XML/SOAP HTTP servers are vulnerable to a denial of service. By sending a specially-crafted SOAP request that contains document type definitions (DTDs), a remote attacker could cause the server to consume 100% of the available CPU resources.
Platforms Affected:
- IBM, WebSphere Application Server 5.0.0
- Microsoft, .NET Framework 1.0
- Microsoft, .NET Framework 1.1
Remedy:
For IBM WebSphere:
Apply the IBM patch PQ81278, available from the IBM Web site. See References.
For Microsoft .NET Framework:
Apply the update, as listed in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 826231. See References.
