Token ring denial of service attack blue screen system
| token-ring-dos (1399) |
Description:
Windows NT workstations and servers on a source-routed token ring network are vulnerable to a denial of service attack. If an attacker creates multiple address resolution protocol (ARP) request frames that contain more than the legal amount of Token Ring source routing information, then Windows NT will blue screen with a 0xA error. This problem may also occur if a source routing bridge does not discard frames with invalid routing information (RI) fields.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
