Description:

sysstat could allow a local attacker to launch a symlink attack. The post and trigger scripts create insecure temporary files. A local attacker could create a symbolic link for a file in /tmp to an arbitrary file on the system, which could allow the attacker to overwrite arbitrary files on the system.

For Red Hat Linux 9:
Upgrade to the latest sysstat package (4.0.7-4.rhl9.1 or later), as listed below. Refer to RHSA-2004:093-05 for more information. See References.

For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of sysstat (5.0.2 or later), as listed in GLSA 200404-04. See References.

For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
