Midnight Commander (mc) creates insecure files and directories. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overwrite files on the system.

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody):
Upgrade to the latest mc package (4.5.55-1.2woody3 or later), as listed in DSA-497-1. See References.
