Description:

Exim is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking. If the verify = header_syntax setting is enabled in the exim.conf configuration file, which is not the default setting, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.

  • Debian, Debian Linux 3.0

Remedy:

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody):
Upgrade to the latest version of exim (3.35-3woody2 or later), as listed in DSA-502-1. See References.
