Juniper JUNOS IPv6 denial of service attack
| juniper-ipv6-dos (16548) |
Description:
Juniper JUNOS is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by a memory leak in the IPv6 Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) when processing specific IPv6 packets. A remote attacker could send multiple specially-crafted IPv6 packets to the router to consume all available memory resources and cause the router to reboot.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
Remedy:
Apply the appropriate solution for this vulnerability, available for registered users from the Juniper Web site. See References.
As a workaround, disable IPv6 processing in the PFE engine.
