Description:

Bugzilla is vulnerable to cross-site scripting. A remote attacker could embed malicious JavaScript in a specially-crafted URL request to the editcomponents.cgi, editgroups.cgi, editmilestones.cgi, editproducts.cgi, editusers.cgi, and editversions.cgi script, which would be executed in the victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the administrators cookie-based authentication credentials.

Upgrade to the latest version of Bugzilla (2.16.6 (stable release) or later or 2.18rc1 (release candidate) or later), as listed in Bugzilla Security Advisory dated July 10, 2004. See References.
