OpenFTPD ncftp message handling format string attack

Description:
OpenFTPD is vulnerable to a format string attack, caused by a vulnerability in the ncftp message handling function. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted message to gain root access to the system.
Platforms Affected:
- Team OpenFTPD, OpenFTPD prior to 0.30.2
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of OpenFTPD (0.30.2 or later), available from the OpenFTPD Web site. See References.
As a workaround, apply the unofficial patch for this vulnerability, as listed in Full-Disclosure Mailing List posting dated Fri Jul 30 2004 - 05:55:07 CDT. See References.
