Description:

GNOME VFS could allow a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access, caused by a vulnerability in the extfs backend scripts. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted URL request, which would allow the attacker to perform actions on the system with user privileges, once the user clicks on the URL via GNOME VFS.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of GNOME VFS (1.0.1 or later), available from the GNOME VFS Web page. See References.

For Red Hat Linux:
Upgrade to the latest gnome-vfs package, as listed below. Refer to RHSA-2004:373-13 and RHSA-2004:464-04 for more information. See References.
