Description:

Cfengine is vulnerable to a heap-based overflow, caused by improper handling of authentication requests by the AuthenticationDialogue function. By sending a specially-crafted authentication request to the cfservd daemon, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with root privileges.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Cfengine (2.0.8p1 or later), available from the Cfengine Web site. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of Cfengine (2.1.8), as listed in GLSA 200408-08. See References.
