Description:
MySQL creates temporary files insecurely. A local attacker could use this vulnerability to create symbolic links from these files to overwrite or create arbitrary files on the system.

Upgrade to the latest version of mysql (3.23.49-8.7 or later), as listed in DSA-540-1. See References.
For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of mysql (4.0.20-r1 or later), as listed in GLSA 200409-02. See References.
For Red Hat Linux:
Upgrade to the latest mysql package, as listed below. Refer to RHSA-2004:569-16 for more information. See References.
