MySQL mysql_real_connect buffer overflow
| mysql-realconnect-bo (17047) |
Description:
MySQL could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, caused by a buffer overflow in the mysql_real_connect function. A remote attacker, in control of a DNS server, can supply a malicious reverse DNS hostname lookup address to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the system.
Note: Reportedly, this vulnerability cannot be exploited to execute arbitrary code on Linux and OpenBSD platforms.
