Description:

Squid Web Proxy Cache is vulnerable to a denial of service attack. The ntlm_fetch_string function in the ntlmauth.c file fails to properly validate negative values. By sending a malicious NTLMSSP packet, a remote attacker could cause Squid Web Proxy Cache to crash.

Remedy:

Apply the squid-2.5.STABLE6-ntlm_fetch_string patch, available from the Squid Web Proxy Cache Web site. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of squid (2.5.6-r2, < 2.5 or later), as listed in GLSA 200409-04. See References.
