Description:

Merak Mail Server is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by a vulnerability in the Icewarp Web Mail service. A remote attacker, with an active session, could embed malicious script in the accountsettings.html or search.html Web page, which would be executed in the victim's Web browser, once the page is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal another user's cookie-based authentication credentials.

Platforms Affected:

  • IceWarp Software, Merak Mail Server 7.4.5

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Merak Mail Server (7.5.2 with Icewarp Web Mail 5.2.8 or later), available from the Merak Mail Server Web site. See References.

As a workaround, disable the Icewarp Web Mail service.
