Description:

Merak Mail Server could allow a remote attacker to create arbitrary directories on the system, caused by a vulnerability in the Icewarp Web Mail service. By sending a specially-crafted URL to the viewaction.html script, a remote attacker could create an arbitrary directory on the victim's system.

Platforms Affected:

  • IceWarp Software, Merak Mail Server 5.2.7

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Merak Mail Server (7.5.2 with Icewarp Web Mail 5.2.8 or later), available from the Merak Mail Server Web site. See References.

As a workaround, disable the Icewarp Web Mail service.
