Description:
The patch specified in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-028 is not installed, which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.
Microsoft Windows is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, when handling JPEG image files. By creating a specially-crafted JPEG file containing malicious code, a remote attacker could overflow the buffer and execute code on the victim's system, once the file is opened. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious Web page or by sending a victim a malicious email.
