Description:
McAfee VirusScan is a virus detection tool for Microsoft Windows operating systems. McAfee VirusScan version 4.5.1 running on Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional and possibly version 4.5 could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system. McAfee VirusScan fails to properly drop SYSTEM privileges when the System Scan properties from the System Tray applet are accessed. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain SYSTEM level privileges.
