Microsoft Internet Information Server MS04-030 patch is not installed
| iis-ms04030-patch (17656) |
Description:
The patch specified in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-030 is not installed, which could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) versions 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 are vulnerable to a denial of service attack when IIS is running WebDAV. WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is an extension to HTTP that allows users to create, edit, and share various documents over the Internet or an intranet. A remote attacker can send a specially-crafted WebDAV request containing multiple attributes per XML element to the Web server, which would cause the IIS service to stop responding.
Consequences:
Denial of Service
Remedy:
Apply the appropriate patch for your system, as listed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-030. See References.
