BNC IRC Proxy backspace command execution

Description:
BNC could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands, caused by an input validation vulnerability. A remote attacker could send a specially-crafted request containing backspace characters to execute arbitrary BNC commands.
Platforms Affected:
- Gentoo, Linux
- James Seter, BNC prior to 2.8.9
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of BNC (2.8.9 or later), available from The BNC project Web site. See References.
For Gentoo Linux:
Upgrade to the latest version of BNC (2.8.9 or later), as listed in GLSA 200410-13. See References.
