Description:

Libxml2 is vulnerable to a buffer overflow when parsing a URL or a proxy URL containing FTP information. By sending a specially-crafted URL request to the xmlNanoFTPScanURL function of the nanoftp.c file, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code on the system.

Upgrade to the latest libxml package (1.8.17-2woody2 or later), as listed in DSA-582-1. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of libxml2 (2.6.15 or later), as listed in GLSA 200411-05. See References.

For Ubuntu Linux:
