Description:

Winamp is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of user-supplied input in the 'IN_CDDA.dll' file. By persuading a user to visit a malicious Web site containing a specially-crafted .m3u playlist, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Platforms Affected:

  • Nullsoft, Winamp 5.05

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Winamp (5.0.7 or later), available from the Winamp Player Download Web page. See References.
