Description:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 running on Windows XP SP2 could allow a remote attacker to spoof file extensions to cause a malicious image to appear to be safe for opening. If the 'Hide extension for known file types' option is enabled, which is the default setting, a remote attacker could create a specially-crafted image, which would be saved with an arbitrary file extenstion, once the victim uses the 'Save Picture As' command. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious Web page and hosting it on a Web site or by sending it to a victim as an HTML email.
