OpenBSD ping(8) command contains a buffer overflow

Description:
The ping command in OpenBSD is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in its handling of oversized ICMP packets. It isn't known whether this could lead to unauthorized access, but regardless, it is recommended that sites upgrade ping.

Remedy:
Apply the patch for this vulnerability, as listed in OpenBSD Security Advisory, February 23, 1999. See References.
