Apache HTTP server Apple HFS+ filesystem .DS_Store and .ht file disclosure
| apache-hfs-file-disclosure (18348) |
Description:
Apache HTTP server running on Mac OS X versions 10.3.6 and 10.2.8 with the Apple HFS+ filesystem could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information. By default, the Web server is sensitive to case when restricting access to files, whereas the Apple HFS+ filesystem does not restrict access based on case. A remote attacker could use this vulnerability to access '.DS_Store' files and files beginning with '.ht'.

- CVE-2004-1083: Apache for Apple Mac OS X 10.2.8 and 10.3.6 restricts access to files in a case sensitive manner, but the Apple HFS+ filesystem accesses files in a case insensitive manner, which allows remote attackers to read .DS_Store files and files beginning with .ht using alternate capitalization.
