Description:

PHP is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the exif_read_data function, caused by improper bounds checking of section names. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service.

For PHP4:
Upgrade to the latest version of PHP4 (4.3.10 or later), available from the PHP Web site. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of PHP5 (5.0.3 or later), available from the PHP Web site. See References.

For Ubuntu Linux:
Upgrade to the latest libapache2-mod-php4, php4 or php4-cgi package (4:4.3.8-3ubuntu7.1 or later), as listed in USN-40-1 December 16, 2004 for more information. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of php (4.3.10 or later), as listed in GLSA 200412-14 . See References.
