Description:
MPlayer is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow in the get_data function, caused by the improper bounds checking in the /libmpdemux/asf_mmst_straming.c file. By creating a specially-crafted media file, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges, once the file is opened.

Remedy:
Apply the mmst_fix_20041215.diff patch for this vulnerability, as listed in iDEFENSE Security Advisory 12.16.04. See References.
