Description:
Squid Web Proxy Cache is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by a memory leak in the NTLM fakeauth_auth helper. A remote attacker could large amounts of memory, which would result in a denial of service.

Remedy:
Apply the squid-2.5.STABLE7-fakeauth_auth patch, available from the Squid Web Proxy Cache Web site. See References.

Upgrade to the latest version of squid (2.5.7-r2 or later), as listed in GLSA 200501-25. See References.
For Ubuntu Linux:
Upgrade to the latest squid (2.5.5-6ubuntu0.3 or later), as listed in USN-67-1 January 20, 2005. See References.
