Linux kernel overlapping VMA gain privileges
| linux-vma-gain-privileges (18886) |
Description:
Linux kernel could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by improper checking of overlapping virtual memory address (VMA) allocations when processing ELF binaries on IA64 systems. By creating a specially-crafted binary, a local attacker could gain root privileges or cause the system to crash, once the malicious binary is executed.
