Description:

Playmidi could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges, caused by a vulnerability in the Playmidi package. A Playmidi component is installed setuid and is vulnerable to a buffer overflow. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary commands on the system with root privileges.

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody): Upgrade to the latest playmidi package (2.4-4woody1 or later), as listed in DSA-641-1. See References.

Upgrade to the latest playmidi package as listed below. Refer to MandrakeSoft Security Advisory MDKSA-2005:010 for more information. See References.
