CMSimple search and guestbook component cross-site scripting
| cmsimple-search-guestbook-xss (18951) |
Description:
CMSimple is an open-source content management system running on Linux and Microsoft Windows. CMSimple versions prior to 2.4 beta 5 are vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper filtering of user-supplied input in the search and guestbook component. A remote attacker could create a malicious URL link or post a message containing embedded script, which would be executed in the victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting site, once the link is clicked or the message is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
