Description:

Ethereal is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking in the X11 dissector. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the system.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Ethereal (0.10.9 or later), available from the Ethereal Download Web page. See References.
