Description:

PostgreSQL is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking when the plpgsql cursor contains too many parameters. By declaring a large amount of PL/pgSQL cursor variables, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer.

Upgrade to the latest version of PostgreSQL (7.2.7, 7.3.9, 7.4.7, or 8.0.1 or later), available from the PostgreSQL FTP Web page. See References.

For Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (woody):
Upgrade to the latest version of postgresql (7.2.1-2woody8 or later), as listed in DSA-683-1. See References.
