Arkeia Network Backup Client 77 request buffer overflow

Description:
Arkeia Network Backup Client is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of user-supplied input in the backup client handling type 77 requests. By connecting to TCP port 617 and sending a specially-crafted type 77 request, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.
Platforms Affected:
- Arkeia, Arkeia Network Backup Client 4.2 to 5.3.3
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Arkeia Network Backup Client (5.3.5 or later), available from the Arkeia Network Backup Download Web page. See References.
