Description:

PuTTY is vulnerable to an integer buffer overflow in the 'fxp_readdir_recv function in the 'sftp.c'. By sending a specially-crafted response to the 'FXP_READDIR' command, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Platforms Affected:

  • PuTTY, PuTTY prior to 0.57

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of PuTTY (0.57 or later), available from the PuTTY Download Web page. See References.
