Description:
Ipswitch IMail Server is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking in the IMAP EXAMINE function. By sending a specially-crafted mailbox name containing 259 bytes as an argument to the EXAMINE function, a remote authenticated attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with administrator privileges.

Remedy:
Apply the IMail Server 8.15 Hotfix 1 (dated 2-3-2005), available from the Ipswitch FTP Product Support Web page. See References.
