Description:

LimeWire is a file sharing application running on the Gnutella Network for Microsoft Windows and Unix-based operating systems. LimeWire versions 4.1.2 through 4.5.6 could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by a vulnerability in the handling of resource get requests. A remote attacker could Telnet to the client using a default port and send a specially-crafted GET request (in the form of /gnutella/res/[filename]) to request and read any file on the host running LimeWire.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of LimeWire (4.8 or later), available from the LimeWire Web site. See References.
